Lundell’s talents come in the sport of grappling, a form of wrestling where the intent is to obtain a submission hold on the opponent. Also known as submission wrestling, the sport brings together wrestling, jiu-jitsu and other mix martial art techniques. Lundell won the 154-pound weight class at the Grappling World Team Trials at Sierra College in Rocklin, Calif. on Sept. 14. He has qualified for the Grappling World Championships in Lucerne, Switzerland, Dec. 20-21. Lundell, a senior from Orem, Utah, won all three of his matches by submission. He was named the most valuable grappler of the trials. Lundell was featured this week as the TheMat.com Athlete of the Week.
