Olympic Gold Medalist Cael Sanderson promotes the work of Vital Ground

Olympic Gold Medalist and 4-time undefeated NCAA wrestling champion Cael Sanderson has recently begun to promote the grizzly bear conservation work of The Vital Ground Foundation on his website, www.caelsanderson.com. The 29 year-old head coach of the Penn State Nittany Lions wrestling team grew up in Heber City, UT, hometown of Vital Ground founders Doug and Lynne Seus, and spent many years of his boyhood with friend Jed Seus playing on the animal trainers’ property.

“In addition to my passion for wrestling, I love the outdoors… and especially bears,” Sanderson states. “Doug and his family are some of the coolest people I know. Every chance we get to visit the Seuses we jump at the opportunity.”

“When I was young I caught trout with Doug’s son, Jed, in the stream behind their house with my hands. We then fed the fish to their raccoons.” Sanderson adds, incidentally, “I remember that Jed was a pretty tough wrestler himself at Wasatch High School.”

Acknowledging the important work that the nonprofit that the Seuses founded on behalf of wild grizzlies, Sanderson states, “They are a great family and great people.”

Vital Ground is grateful to Mr. Sanderson for promoting the organization on his website and for helping get the word out about the imperative to save habitat for grizzly bears and all the animals that share their world.
