1994 JV Football Video- me getting tackled by opposing coach - Friday, May 21st, 2010

Check out the video I just posted in the video section for fun.  It is from 1994 (I think) when I was a sophomore in high school playing jv football.  I got crushed by the opposing coach after the game. I wrestled 135lbs my sophomore year in high school.  My team (Wasatch High School) was down by three touchdowns going into halftime.  We came back and were up by a point or two in the final seconds.  The video starts where the opposing team is trying to kick a field goal to win the game.    They miss, we win, and there is a little pushing going on afterwards.  The pushing went on for few seconds and then I am the one that gets drilled in the back (with perfect technique) by the opposing coach.  He sprinted 40 or so yards and honed in on me to perform the near perfect tackle to my blind side.  He hit me pretty hard and I went from my feet to my face quickly.  All I remember thinking was “wow, who ever just hit me is a big dude, I’m going to take my time getting up.)  It didn’t hurt, I was covered in pads.  It was more shocking then anything.   I wasn’t completely innocent as you can see in the video I was doing some pushing myself.  I don’t want to give too much info because I don’t want to reveal the identity of the person who hit me.  Nothing ever happened to the coach.  He was a nice guy who lost his temper I guess.   It was brushed under the rug.  We didn’t push it, even though my mom jokes every once in awhile that we should have sued the school district.  My mom was on the field two seconds after the hit chasing the coach around.   One of best friend’s(Kyle Klonizos, state champion and eventual wrestler at Boise State) mom, Ann Klonizos, was also on the field going after the coach.  You ddidn’t want to mess with my mom and Ann, they were awesome.      

 The quality of the video isn’t great because it is old and obviously from VHS.

I would guess if this happened today it would be all over ESPN and the video would be up on youtube with 3 million hits.
